Strengths: I know the antiviral approach quite well. Also have been studying the calcium homeostasis issue for a long time. I know the diet well, am versed on numerous therapies and supplements etc. Been doing it for a long time and information has just accumulated. I am also the 5th district A-CHAMP.
Why I became a
Rescue Angel:
I want parents to know that there is hope and Autism is treatable
Child's Symptoms: physical decline stared after the MMR, fever, rash, no sleep digestive pain, chronic diarrhea, food intolerances, etc. Then 18 month shots caused decline of all skills, speech, pointing, playing with sister, eye contact, all disappeared completely and in it's place repetative noises, movement, etc. Now at 8 years old has some speech but no conversation. Have worked on the gut and made some headway. He is learning to read, can answer ys and no, eye contact is easier to achieve, etc., all thanks to biomed. Still have a long way to go.
Helpful Therapies: MB12 Shots, Valtrex, Nystatin and no fenol combo, removal of all allergen foods and gluten / casein free, OPC-3 antioxidant, fish oils, etc.

Strengths: I've read everything I can get my hands on, my son is on his healing journey but two years into behavioral therapy, one year into biomed and just beginning DAN! with Dr. Rossignol in FL. I would be a great person for someone just diagnosed. I can give tons of support, help get the diet off the ground, point them to books, online lists of moms, explain Early Intervention, IEP, ABA vs Floortime , I know only a little about RDI. I know the providers well in this area as I am one (for adults). I am a clinic al social worker (MSW, LICSW).
Why I became a
Rescue Angel:
It is the mommies that will get you through. The best support, resources, ideas, and advice has all come from the moms!I want to be that for other people.
Child's Symptoms: Ear infections and ear tubes, diarrhea and gut dysbiosis, hypotonia, motor planning problems, late speech, withdrawn, exhausted, was in his own world, irritable, extremely anxious.
Helpful Therapies: DAN!, all biomedical, gfcf diet, anti-biotics, anti-fungals,about to begin chelation, considering IVIG and HBOT, private speech and OT, floortime and ABA, having a typical older sister.

Strengths: I am in remission from chronic Lyme disease. Two of my children have been recently diagnosed with Lyme. I have three grandchildren on the autism spectrum. Recent research is linking Lyme and Autism. I am in my 2nd year at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in NY and I mentor 6 student clients, 5 of which have children on the spectrum who are battling autism and winning. I have knowledge, experience and resources, but most of all I have love, patience and empathy.
Why I became a

Why I became a

Strengths: I am pretty knowledgeable about about biomedical interventions as well as all the services that are out there to help our children. My daughter has worked with a bunch of agencies within MA.
Why I became a
Rescue Angel:
I would like to help other mothers, children and families by sharing my experiences with my daughter's biomedical interventions. I have learned a lot about all the interventions through reading, attending a 4 day conference and trying many interventions on my daughter. I would like to give the families the hope and knowledge that it is possible that our children can get significantly better. I first heard about biomedical intervention by watching Jenny Mc Carthy on Oprah and reading her books. No doctors told me about any biomedical interventions and I had never heard about a DAN doctor until I heard Jenny speak on Oprah
Child's Symptoms: Significant motor issues, poor eye contact, difficulty talking, loss of skills after immunizations, difficulty relating to others, extreme fatigue, constipation, terrible reaction to immunizations, poor immune system
Helpful Therapies: Floortime ABA and medical intervention

Strengths: Asperger's Syndrome, and treating any ASD through the DAN! program.
Why I became a
Rescue Angel:
It was not until a year after our son was diagnosed that we found the ARI and DAN! We were astounded that no one had recommended this to us before! I have been very eager to tell our story, and help other families because I believe strongly that every family of a newly diagnosed child needs to know that there is real treatment that gets to the root of the problem. At local Autism organizations I have talked about these treatments, and the staff have shut me down. These families need to know, and they need real help and support.
Child's Symptoms: Stress, anxiety, tantrums, meltdowns, sensory issues, inflexibility and social misunderstandings. Defeat Autism Now doctor (DAN!) found candida overgrowth, and heavy metal toxicity. Diagnoses-Asperger's Syndrome
Helpful Therapies: Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD), anti-fungals, probiotics, B-6, minerals, Glutathione, MB12 shots. Was then responsive to social skills and OT.

Strengths: PDD-NOS, cape cod early intervention options, DAN Conference, tried a few different DAN dr's, tried using private pay therapists vs. school provided, we are just about ready to try chelation as our sons GI issues are finally under control. We will also be seeking out HBOT for our son in the future.
Why I became a
Rescue Angel:
I wish we would have access to someone in the same boat to talk to when our child was first diagnosed, but because of confidentiality laws our early intervention team could not direct us to any folks. I found later that there were very few taking advantage of Biomedical treatments and was shocked. I can only think it is because they don't have access to the information that they are not trying it. A good DAN Dr. is an early essential!!
Child's Symptoms: No talking, no pointing, did not answer to his name, no pretend play, constant jumping, huge GI issues, tippy toe walking, loved to spin wheels and study lines
Helpful Therapies: ABA, antifungal parade, anti parasite, anti bacteria treatment, GF/CF diet, SCD diet, B12 shots!!, epsom salt baths, cod liver oil, vitamins, glutathione IV's & cream, etc..

Strengths: I feel like ABA was the biggest therapy for Casey but we did educate ourselves and did try change in diet, vitamin supplements, brushing program, changed immunizations, etc. Attended many conferences
Why I became a
Rescue Angel:
To help others because we are very fortunate with Casey's recovery
Child's Symptoms: Extremely withdrawn and no speech--given PDD diagnosis by Children's Hospital Boston at 18 months of age. She had 25-28 hours a week of ABA/speech therapy for two years. Started to speak a little at age 3 and by the time she was four she went to a speech delayed diagnosis with little services and by the time she was 7 she no longer had any services. She is 11 years old now, extremely outgoing, athletic and is making the honor roll. You would never guess she was ever diagnosed.
Helpful Therapies: ABA, Floortime, Picture Exchange

Strengths: GF/CF diet and most vitamins, supplements etc. I also know a lot about the SCD diet but not 100%. ABA is also something I know a lot about and feel strongly about. I have been to 2 DAN! conferences and will be attending my 3rd in Atlanta.
Why I became a
Rescue Angel:
I have no idea where my son would be today had I not started him on the GF/CF diet, etc. at 2 years old. I want to be able to guide other parents along this journey and let them know that they are not alone. Biomedical interventions do help but alot is trial and error and it can be frustrating. The key is to never give up!
Child's Symptoms: No social skills, minimal language, vocal and visual stims, sleeplessness, oral defensiveness, sensory issues, tough time with transitions
Helpful Therapies: Anti-fungals!, probiotics, vitamins, Cod Liver Oil, Omega 3-6-9, MB12 shots, glutathione, NAC, calcium, GF/CF diet, SCD diet, digestive enzymes, no phenol

Strengths: I am very involved with the ABA therapy my son receives and also I think that I might be of help to portuguese speaking families, since I know that the language barrier makes everything even harder.
Why I became a
Rescue Angel:
I would like to share my experience with as many people as I can. My son is turning 3 and he is being treated with biomedical interventions for only 3 months and I already see a significant improvement, especially on his well being. I would love to help other parents to get the information they need to make an informed decision about their child's health.
Child's Symptoms: frequent ear infections, gi acid reflux, yeast and bacteria, lots of crying, lost of eye contact and words around 12 months, sensory issues, nonverbal
Helpful Therapies: gluten free, casein free diet, aba, vitamins,anti-acid medication, anti-fungus and bacteria medication
