This year over the holidays, Generation Rescue partnered with a national restaurant concept called; Freebirds World Burrito and participated in their 4th annual Adopt A Family program. (AAF)
The program is a nation-wide effort that identifies families that are experiencing strain or difficulties over the holiday season, and partners each family with one of their 91 locations to receive gifts, gift cards, and more importantly, a place where families felt cared for during hard times. Eighty five families were served through the AAF program in 2012 and many organizations were involved, including Generation Rescue.
What we appreciated most about this program was the care and consideration that was offered to each of our families. The noise levels were purposely brought down while families visited, gifts were tailored to the needs of each child, siblings, and parents and awareness was created to a whole new audience. “What I loved about involving Generation Rescue this year was the introduction to our crews, of behavior and challenges of those living or caring for someone on the spectrum”, said Annette Beavers, Director of Freebirds World Works. “I am certain that getting the chance to meet Generation Rescue families has brought a different level of understanding to serving the needs of each and every guest.”
