Freebirds World Burrito is a fast casual restaurant that originated in Santa Barbara, California. When you walk into a Freebirds restaurant you immediately feel that “hippie vibe” the brand culture is based upon. Hard to miss with the classic rock music playing, the cool images of rock stars like, John Lennon and Jimi Hendrix painted on the walls, and the crew being obviously free to express themselves creatively with no uniforms, tattoos, and a cool, hip vibe that defines this brand. The outer layer may seem “too cool for school” but when you dig a little deeper you find the true heart of the company, that is their charitable program, Freebirds World Works.
World Works is a charitable model that is unlike any other you have seen in the restaurant industry. It’s belief is that by inspiring others to “give back” and by participating in the work themselves, the world can be a better place.
Every year Freebirds partners with service organizations in Texas, Kansas City, Oklahoma, and California during the holiday season and engages their mission, by helping to support families through their “Adopt A Family” program. This year, Generation Rescue has been asked to participate and we are thrilled at the opportunity to further honor our families by giving them a holiday experience that will surely be memorable. The way it works is each family is partnered with a Freebirds restaurant and after the initial meeting, Freebirds crews hit the streets to partner with individuals and businesses who can help to make the season bright for each family. Basic needs are provided, such as; grocery gift cards, gas cards, and gift cards to larger retailers that provide a variety of useful items. They also go beyond the basic needs of each family and help to provide fun games, toys, and special gifts for the parents who deserve a thoughtful gesture.
If you would like to join in the efforts of supporting families, please visit your local Freebirds World Burrito and ask how you can help.
