Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is an essential cornerstone for any child with a neurodevelopmental disorder. Neurodevelopmental Disorders (ND) are disorders of brain function that affect emotion, learning ability, self-control, socialization and memory. Children with Autism are said to have a “disconnect” between the brain and the body. A properly functioning nervous system, which includes the sensory, autonomic and motor nerves, is imperative to help overcome the symptoms associated with these disorders.

Because all neurology is affected by spinal structure, it is essential that children with signs of ND be evaluated by a chiropractor for vertebral subluxations, or misalignments, of the spine, that may cause interference within the brain, sensory and motor systems. In children with ND there is often a history of a traumatic or difficult birth, c-section, or breech birth; all of which can cause injury and subluxations to the spine.

Proper brain activity is directly related to correct alignment and function of the spine. If the spine is out of alignment, it can create interference in the signals going to the brain and contribute to mental conditions. Chiropractic care can help with many of the symptoms of ASD by improving nervous system function. This is made possible by restoring the integrity of the nervous system connection between the body and brain through gentle and specific chiropractic adjustments.
