Aidan: California

Aidan was born a perfect, healthy, and happy little boy. The moment they placed him in my arms I knew my greatest accomplishment in this life was being his mother. Little did I know at the time, that the future held something else for us to accomplish together. That was to bring him back from the disorder that took him…….autism.

As new parents, we wanted to make sure Aidan was protected against every possible disease. He received every vaccine and flu shot according to the recommended schedule. Aidan met all his milestones until about thirteen months. He stopped progressing and showed many signs of autism. For example, he became obsessed with light switches, door handles and toilet flushing. He was completely non-verbal. He stopped caring about anyone and no longer noticed those around him. Even Mommy and Daddy were no longer important. His formal diagnosis was autism.

As many parents, my husband and I were in denial of Aidan’s autism. Thanks to reading Generation Rescue’s stories of recovery, and to my sister’s urgent suggestion, we began the GFCF diet right away. I really didn’t know much about it but I thought I’d give it a try. We also got in touch with a DAN! Doctor and began the DAN! Protocol. We started seeing changes right away. Aidan began pointing for the first time. He also seemed to make eye contact with us in a way he never did before. It was like he was seeing us for the first time. I was so encouraged to see that the fog was lifting.

Currently, Aidan is a different child than he was when we began this journey. He is happy. He gives hugs, he says “Hi mommy!”, “I love you”, “bye bye Daddy”, and many more words. I no longer end the day exhausted and hopeless. I now end the day grateful that I am getting my son back. I don’t know where we would be today without the diet and supplements. I don’t even want to think of how much worse Aidan would be if we had done nothing. To all the parents who have just begun this journey……. You are your child’s greatest advocate and you are their voice. Fight for them and never lose hope. There is so much we can do to help our children to feel better, and there are so many resources out there for us to use. The sooner the better.

You can defeat this and give your child a happier and healthier life!

With love,
Sabrina, Mommy to Aidan
