The 3rd annual Rock the Spectrum event presented by Branson's Nantucket will be held on Friday September 5, 2014 at The Branson Landing. All monies raised will go to directly help families affected by autism in Branson, Missouri and surrounding areas. This event is founded by Brent & Cristal Hedrick in honor of their goddaughter Shaylee O’Day.
We will again have an awesome lineup of entertainment which will all be joining together in support of helping children with autism, a disorder that currently affects 1 in 50 children.
A child is diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum every 15 minutes. On May 20, 2013, the CDC announced a 72 percent increase in the diagnosis of autism over the past four years. This already staggering rate is rapidly growing. Many insurance providers will not cover expenses of children on the spectrum.
The Hedricks share the same goal with Shaylee’s parents Chuck & Michelle O’Day, and that is to let our local families who deal with autism on a daily basis that there is light at the end of the tunnel, and hopefully give them a sigh of relief. It is also very important to the Hedricks & O’Days to spread the awareness that autism is recoverable. This will be the 6th year the two families have done an autism event for the Branson area. Cristal and Michelle founded A Day for Shay & Pals in 2009. Brent and Chuck are working on creating a summer program for our local families as well.
So, come out for an amazing time while doing something amazing for your community!
The 3rd annual Rock the Spectrum event presented by Branson's Nantucket will raise money for Generation Rescue and directly help families affected by autism in Taney County, MO.
Friends from across the county will be coming out to dance, sing-a-long, eat and enjoy a fun night in support of helping children with autism, a disorder that currently affects 1 in 88 children.
"Rock the Spectrum” will raise money for Jenny McCarthy's foundation Generation Rescue. Generation Rescue mentors families, provides medical assistance to under served children and generates national awareness and resources for autism. Since inception, Generation Rescue has been the leader in providing not only pathways to recovery but results in recovery. The Hedrick's & O'Days are also working with a local foundation to put together a summer program for the local children.
Autism is becoming an epidemic with more and more people diagnosed everyday. This problem isn't going away and in fact, it is becoming increasingly prevalent in the United States. It now affects 1 in 88 children and 1 in 54 boys; chances are that you know and love somebody diagnosed with autism.
This event is a great way to not only give back, but your supporting an amazing cause while featuring fun games, cool drinks, delicious snacks and great music!
